A. Objective:
The objective of this statement is to outline the method for construction of a secure temporary structure capable of housing costlier and sensitive intellectual as well as physical property presently owned by the contractor which shall be transferred to the ownership of the end-client/ owner by handing over to the main contacting party.
B. Scope of work:
- Construction of store and office to house material and important documents pertaining to the orders received by the party preparing this document.
- The store will primarily be used to safeguard fittings and materials that may be removable secretively like fittings, valves, Fire Alarm material. Pipes will be stored separately outside the store.
- The store will also secure the materials (tools and tackles) of the sub-contractor(s) if the subcontractor(s) is (are) unable to create their store.
- The store and office structure will have to provide the necessary infrastructure that will be the bedrock for all works at the site undertaken by the contractor.
C. Materials:
- Sheet for Store and office walls: Approved color corrugated sheets
- MS B Class pipe 25mm and 40mm dia
- Base plate 150mm x 150mm
- Clamps (J and/or U-type)
- Anchor fastener with bolt, nut and washer M10
- Stud rod M10
- Welding Rods
- Binding wire
D. Tools:
- Welding Machine(s)
- Drilling Machine(s)
- Hammer(s)
- Spanner(s)
- Aluminium Ladder(s)
- Mobile Ladder(s)
E. Safety Equipment:
- Safety shoes
- Helmet(s)
- Safety Jacket(s)
- Welding helmet(s)
- Safety Gloves
F. Manpower:
- One or more team(s) consisting of:
- One welder (cum-fitter)
- One fitter (if welder is not capable of fit-up)
- One cutter (if reqd.)
- Two unskilled labour
G. Procedure:
- Store and office location and space needs to be approved before construction begins. Scope of power supply will be as per contract and client approvals.
- Preferably the store should be within the building’s civil structure and the same is considered.
- The supporting pipe has to have a base plate welded at the end that will be placed on the floor to prevent damage to the floor.
- For a square store at least four vertical pipes will be provided at each corner. For other layouts at least one vertical pipe needs to support each corner of the floor space.
- The pipes will be anchored at the top using a stud rod and anchor fastener anchored in the ceiling of the store area if within a civil structure.
- The corrugated sheets will run over the pipes so as to form the walls of the store and office.
- If permissible, there should be provision of ventilation space between the ceiling and the corrugated sheet provided the corrugated sheet forms at least an 8-10 feet (2.5-3m) height wall.
- Corrugated sheets will be anchored at the pipes by J-clamps or U-clamps.
- Repeat the same for construction of the office.
- There should be separate doors to the store and the office with an interconnecting door if they are side-by-side.
- Store needs to have adequate storage space for assembly of heavy duty material storage shelves, material storage before shelving as well as contractor tools and tackles.
- The office needs to have adequate space to accommodate two desks, filing shelves and a filing cabinet/ almirah. One of the desks will be for the onsite computer and printer (if required). The other desk will be for site team meetings and discussions.
- If space is available a third desk should be accommodated for the project manager’s usage.
Power supply will reach the store through the appropriate fault protected method and provided at the main switch board from where electrical connections will be run for store and office lights, fans and the site computer as well as 3-4 plug points in surplus of the ones provided for the fit-out of the office.
